Part Two

When he got to the car the man was awake, which wasn’t a shock at all.  He was awake and terrified, no doubt realizing that he wasn’t going to be making it out of this situation alive.  Daniel offered him no suggestion that the assumption would be wrong and threw a blanket from the back seat over the man’s head as he hefted him inside.  If anyone were to be walking by it would no doubt just look like he was leading a drunken friend inside.  Once inside Daniel did his best to hurry upstairs, not wanting Mali to wake up and have to face his attacker before he was ready.

“This would be a lot easier if you would just walk straight,” Daniel grumbled to the man, knowing full well that a man with two broken knee caps couldn’t do as was requested.  That didn’t stop Daniel from grumbling though.  “God, I should have just hit you in the head again.  If you were passed out I could have you upstairs in ten minutes.”

Instead it took almost a full half hour to get the man upstairs and strapped to Daniel’s table, securing him at the head, wrists, waist and ankles.  He’d often mentioned his table to Mali, but of course no one had ever seen it but himself, his victims and his cat.  Even his sister Lisa, who ventured upstairs to pick up the things left behind by Daniel’s victims never went in this room.  This room was Daniel’s, and was a bit of a control freak when it came to it.

“I’d take the gag off and let you scream, but I really don’t want to disturb my friend downstairs.  I haven’t quite worked out how to sound proof these walls and still keep them easy to clean.  You don’t have any ideas do you?”  Daniel paused.  “No, I suppose you wouldn’t.”

He walked into the upstairs bathroom and changed out of his clothes, putting on a pair of slick black pants, a white lab coat and a pair of surgical gloves.  He found that while blood beaded right off his pants it was far too uncomfortable to wear a coat made out of the same material, so therefore he went with practicality over style.  The gloves of course were just a matter of necessity, since he found that human tissue was a pain in the ass to get out from under his nails.

“Your name is Justin right?  I think I remember seeing you in the bar before and, well that’s what your driver’s license says.  Funny, you wear a wedding ring, yet you were trying to rape my friend.  I don’t think your wife would be too happy with that, do you?”  Daniel pulled the wedding ring off as he spoke and set it on a nearby counter.  The whole room had a very hospital type feel about it, bright white and lit with florescent lights.  “You also had four hundred dollars in your wallet.  So what, did you originally plan to hire a hooker and ended up deciding that getting your rocks off for free was a better idea?”  Daniel shook his head.  “Should have gone with the hooker.”

He went about removing any other jewelry the man was wearing, which wasn’t much but Lisa had a habit of turning scrap gold into decent sums of money seemingly without effort.  Daniel wasn’t sure how she did it, but he never cared enough to ask.

“So, let me tell you a little about myself.”  Daniel took a scalpel from a small tray much like you would find in a hospital and held it up to examine it.  He was nothing if not dramatic.  “My name is Daniel.  Now, I don’t consider myself gay really, I’ve always loved women.  I mean who doesn’t?  Fuck, what’s hotter than a hot redhead with a big rack?  But you know, there’s just something about certain people y’know?  Things you can’t get out of your head.”  He ran the scalpel down the man’s chest, cutting his shirt as well as his skin.  Predictably Justin began to scream, though it was muffled by the gag.  “That’s what Mali has.  Oh that’s the name of the guy you tried to fuck by the way.  His full name is Malakai but I like calling him Mali, I think it’s cute.  He hated it at first but… well, that’s not important.  The important thing is that he’s very special to me.  Do you see where you fucked up here?”

Justin attempted to nod but was unable to due to his restraints.

“Good, I like to see a man admit his mistakes.  Of course yours was a pretty fucking big one.  See, if I’d caught you trying to rape somebody I didn’t know I’d probably just kill you, but you… no, you had to go and attack somebody I care about.”  Daniel’s voice darkened and his calm demeanor slowly began to fade into anger.  “Seriously dude, you fucked up so amazingly bad.”

To punctuate his sentence he stabbed the man in the hand with the scalpel.

“That man downstairs is going to be so screwed up after this.  And why?  So you could save yourself some money ‘cause you’re wife doesn’t want anything to do with you?  I bet that’s it too, I know I sure as hell wouldn’t.”

Tears were running down Justin’s face but Daniel had no pity for him.  Instead he grabbed a battery powered drill he kept for such occasions and hit the button a few times to let the man know of it’s presence.  “Mali’s special to me, he’s the first person to accept who I am.  He doesn’t care that I kill people, he likes me for me.”  Daniel paused to realize just how gay that sounded, but decided he didn’t care.  After all, who was this fucker going to tell?  “What would have happened if I hadn’t gotten there in time?”

The question was meant to be rhetorical but all of a sudden the weight of his own words hit Daniel.  What would have happened?  If he had just been ten minutes later then Mali could have gotten raped, if he’d been twenty minutes later he could have gotten killed.  Who was to say this man would have stopped at just raping him?

“Do you have any idea what you almost cost me?”  He asked, getting progressively louder.  He set the drill down, losing his flair for dramatic and just getting downright pissed off.  “Do you?  Do you have any idea what I would be without him?”

Justin’s pain filled eyes blinked away tears and Daniel was pretty sure he’d be trying to apologize if he could but none of that mattered.  Apologies never mattered in situations like this, it hadn’t for the man who insisted on talking on his cell phone during the matinee he’d seen, why would it matter for this waste of space?

“You would be lucky if I just killed you!” Daniel screamed, raising his fist and slamming it down on the incision he’d made in the man’s chest.  “You don’t even deserve death!”

Justin’s eyes shot open as he screamed against the gag, the pain worse than anything he’d ever felt in his life.  Even if he wouldn’t have regretted raping the drunk and damn near passed out man he definitely regretted trying to now.

“He’s going to need fixing after this,” Daniel continued, almost as if he was mumbling to himself.  He took a bloody finger and tapped his cheek thoughtfully before realizing what he was doing and wiping his hand on his coat.  “I won’t have time to go find victims and let’s face it, a killer without a victim is nothing.  This only leaves one solution.”  He looked down at Justin with eyes that showed just how psychotic he really was.  “Guess what you fat fuck.  You get to stick around for a while.”

Daniel was normally very detail oriented, particularly when it came to killing, but when his heart was otherwise occupying his mind he tended to miss a detail or two.  This was the only reason he could think of as to why the obnoxiously large man on his table was able to push the gag out of his mouth.  “Please!  Please I’ll do anything!  I’ll give you money, lots of it!  I’ll do whatever you say!”

What the man hadn’t expected was for his words to only fuel Daniel’s rage.  “Money?  Do you think money is going to fix this?  Will money stop the man I love from being afraid for the rest of his life that-“  Daniel stopped dead in his tracks.  What had he just said?  “Do you think…”  He tried to continue but his voice trailed off into nothingness.  “Fuck…”

Ignoring Justin’s continued pleas Daniel began to pace the room, earning him curious looks from his cat, who had been curled up in the corner, unfazed by the yelling that her master and his victim were doing.  She was used to all of that by now and was simply waiting for her chance to nibble on the man’s toes.  Zig had an odd taste for toes, it was very strange.

“Holy fuck, I love him… how the hell did this happen?  It was just sex, then just… well a little more than sex but it was never… neither of us ever wanted love.  But I do… I love him….”  He looked at Zig.  “I bet you already knew didn’t you?  Damn cats always know this shit before people do.”

“Please, I’ll pay for whatever you need.  Therapy?  Drugs?  Alcohol?  I’ll pay for it!”

Daniel spun around and laughed.  “Therapy?  You’ll pay for fucking therapy?  Fuck that!  You know what I’m going to do?  I’m going to keep you alive until Mali’s feeling better… you’ll be my present to him.”  He smiled triumphantly, proud of his decision.  “Maybe I’ll even refrain from cutting your tongue out so you can apologize to him.”

With a renewed energy Daniel hurried to the table and let out a laugh that was so close to a giggle, a strange maniacal giggle that it was chilling.  He replaced Justin’s gag, making sure to secure it this time and smiled.  “Oh, but there is one thing I need to do.  I don’t think you’ll be using this anymore, so…”

Justin’s eyes widened as Daniel retrieved the scalpel that was stuck in one swollen fleshy hand and stabbed it straight through the now flaccid cock that was still on display.  The scream that erupted against the gag was quite possibly the greatest thing Daniel had ever heard.

“Now if you don’t mind me, I’m going to go clean up and take care of the man I love.”  Oh yes, he was giddy to say such a thing.  “Try not to bleed to death in my absence please.”  Daniel waved to the man before disappearing into his bathroom yet again.

***
The next morning Daniel woke with a start and his first thought was to make sure Mali was okay.  When he saw that the spot next to him on the bed was empty he panicked and leapt from the bed, darting into the living room.

“Daniel… what the hell is wrong with you?”  Mali asked from the kitchen.  It appeared as if he was attempting to make a package of muffin mix but Daniel wasn’t quite processing the scene just yet.

“What… are you doing?”

“I’m making breakfast.  I told you last night I was going to make breakfast, remember?”

Daniel blinked and thought back to last night.  He didn’t remember anything about breakfast, all he remembered was talking to Mali on the phone before saving him.  That’s when it hit him.  Last night had never happened.  Well, last night had happened, actually last night they’d gone to a club, tortured a middle age man who had attacked a teenage girl in the bathroom, and Daniel had killed him and dragged him off into the woods afterwards.  On their way home Mali had made the comment that they were “fucking heroes” and after some celebratory sex he promised to make Daniel breakfast the next morning.

“And you say I drink too much,” Mali said with a snicker.  “You need to cut back or something, you looked like you expected me to be bleeding to death in the living room or something.”

“ Not exactly…”  This of course meant that while Mali hadn’t been attacked, which was very good, he also had never had his revelation… or had he?  He was pretty sure he still had.

“Are you okay Danny boy?”  Mali finally asked, sounding concerned.

“Yeah, I’m… I’m fine.  There’s something I need to tell you though…”

Part Two of Two

This part was probably is... 90% stream of consciousness writing and 10% planning... if that much. *L* YES! The "It was all a dream!" was the plan all along. HA! And what happens next? Well good luck! 'Cause I don't know! Is this AU? Is it part of the actual story? Not telling!

This is 100% unbeta-ed, though I did run spellcheck. Critique is discouraged at the moment, though I may ask for it later.

Daniel belongs to me.
Mali belongs to =Angie-Chan070707.
The writing is mine, don't blame her for my bullshit. She let me borrow Mali.

WOW, I did not expect that to turn out to be "just a dream'. Your writing always blows me away. It will be interesting to see what happens with these two.
